Nothing much ever happens in Monksford. Even so, reporter Jemma Durham dreams of the story that will take her from the small Monksford Gazetteto a national newspaper. Then the town revives the tradition of the medieval mystery plays that were performed across England hundreds of years ago, and life in Monksford turns decidedly more interesting. With the town caught up in the compelling and ancient plays, Jemma goes undercover, taking the role of Mary Magdalene to record the experiencie for the Gazette.

As Jemma begins to uncover some of the town's secrets, she stumbles upon her big story - the one that could be her ticket out of Monksford. But writing that story would mean betraying friendships and destroying careers. When Jemma begins to feel herself falling in love with Josh Wood, a fellow actor in the play, her decision to write the story isn't an easy one.

Jemma holds the power to change her life and the lives of those around her - but at what cost?
